The top and bottom of the globe is slightly askew as well. The person who put it together seemed to have rushed it. The lighting feature that illuminates the globe is a neat concept and works good enough. I had thought that the light in question would shine through the stars, however the globe is solid, with no holes. There are however two layers to the plastic, the outer one shows the astronomical designations and constellations, including the milky way. The inner layer is painted with classically styled pictures of the creatures/people of the constellations. When the light is off it is a smooth blue star globe, with just the astronomical markings. When the light is lit, the inner pictures shine through and overlay, showing the more mythical interpretations of the constellations. The globe is very solid and seems sturdy, the bracketing frame is simple plastic and may not hold up as well. The globe does turn, but somewhat stiffly.
